"Taking Time to Relax with Family" by Suzanne Turnbull

Between all of the afterschool activities, weekend events, and carpooling, it’s easy for families to feel a little rundown at the close of each week. A great way to give everyone a break is to plan a handful of family-themed nights each month that involve playing games and indulging in some delicious snacks after dinner. Aside from the living room, the best place to group the whole gang together is at the kitchen table where young kids are sitting in their Stokke high chairs, older children are anxiously waiting to eat, and parents are preparing the table for the meal ahead. Once dinner is over, consider making a fun treat that your kids will enjoy eating while everyone participates in a board game or puzzle.

Now that summer is right around the corner, cold desserts like ice cream and frozen yogurt prove to be a big hit for young families. Dish out a few scoops into a decorative mug like iittala’s Taika mug designed by Klaus Haapaniemi. This handcrafted ceramic design features vibrant colors and an artistic animal printed theme throughout. There’s no need to limit this home item to one season. These items are great all year long for when your kids come in from a chilly day and want to enjoy a nice cup of hot chocolate or even for parents that need to unwind with a soothing cup of herbal tea. Whatever the need, decorative mugs are a staple item in any family’s household!
